Privacy Policy for Recall

Recall does not collect your data. The app has no account, no sign-up, and no internet connection. Everything you enter stays on your iPhone and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
Who we are
Recall is an iPhone app for cognitive wellness and day-to-day memory support. This policy explains how the app handles information. It applies to the Recall iOS app and nothing else.
Information we collect
None. We do not collect, receive, store, sell, or share any personal information. We operate no servers that the app talks to, and we have no ability to see anything you enter.
Recall contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking technologies, and no third-party software development kits that gather information. The app makes no network requests of any kind.
Information stored on your device
Recall saves what you enter so it is there next time you open the app. This data is written to your iPhone's private app storage. It does not leave the device. Depending on which features you use, it can include:
- The first name, age range, goal, and daily session length you provide during setup
- People you save — names, relationships, and any notes you add about them
- Object locations — where you usually keep everyday items
- Notes, journal entries, and saved reminders
- Medications — names, dosages, frequencies, and times you enter
- Appointments — titles, dates, and locations you enter
- Emergency contacts — names, relationships, and phone numbers you enter
- Health notes you choose to record
- Your routine checklist and which items you have completed
- Exercise scores, streaks, and progress across the app's skill areas
- Your accessibility preferences, such as larger text or high contrast
Some of this is health-related because you may choose to enter it. We want to be plain about this: we never see it. It is stored by the app on your phone, in the same way a note you write in the Notes app stays on your phone.
The optional session record
During setup, Recall offers to keep an anonymous record of your practice sessions. If you leave this on, the app writes a local file listing the exercise played, the score, how long it took, and the date.
That file is labelled with a random identifier generated on your device. It does not contain your name. Like everything else, it stays on your phone and is never uploaded. You can turn this off during setup.
When information leaves your device
Only when you deliberately send it. Recall has two features that can share data, and both require you to tap and choose a recipient:
- Export — creates a summary file and opens the standard iOS share sheet so you can email it to yourself, send it to a doctor, or save it to Files. You choose where it goes.
- Calling an emergency contact — hands the phone number to the iPhone's dialler. Recall does not place the call itself.
Once you share a file, it is governed by whatever app or service you sent it to, not by this policy.
Notifications
If you turn on the daily reminder, Recall schedules a local notification on your device. iOS will ask your permission first. These notifications are generated on the phone; no push server is involved and no notification data reaches us.
Children
Recall is designed for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Your choices and rights
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to retrieve, correct, or delete on your behalf. You remain in full control:
- Every saved item can be edited or deleted inside the app
- The optional session record can be declined during setup
- Deleting the app removes all of its stored data from your iPhone permanently
If you are covered by the GDPR, UK GDPR, or the CCPA, note that we are not a controller or processor of your personal data, because none is ever transmitted to us. We do not sell or share personal information, as those terms are defined under the CCPA.
Data retention and security
Your information stays on your device for as long as you keep it there, and is protected by your iPhone's own security — your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and the device encryption iOS applies when the phone is locked. Because nothing is transmitted, there is no server-side database of your information to breach.
Changes to this policy
If the app's handling of information ever changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised. Material changes will also be described in the app's release notes on the App Store.
